Lab 02 — Call for Expert Spokes
Lead-to-Cash — lead through order, fulfilment, billing and cash collection — is the process a European mid-sized company earns its money on.
At Westerman Level 2 it still runs on siloed departments and manual hand-offs, and using GenAI on individual steps changes little: GenAI doesn't recognise department doors, and data streams don't follow business-unit boundaries. Capturing its value means redesigning the process end-to-end — across people, processes, tools, data and culture, the PARC+ framework.
That is what Lab 02 — the Process & Tools Lab — does. For each of three industries it rebuilds the Lead-to-Cash process in two versions: the traditional process, siloed and manual where that is still the norm, and a redesigned end-to-end target process built for better KPIs such as cycle time, error and rework rate, hand-offs and information loss.
Both versions are implemented technically, GenAI included, in a live test environment, and real cross-functional teams run both. Running the two side by side shows — within the same team — what the redesign and the use of GenAI actually deliver in the process a company lives on, per industry. We are now assembling the Senior Spoke roster. This is the call.
What Lab 02 does
Lab 02 is a pre-registered, mixed-methods Living Lab built on three concurrent strands:
Strand A — Catalytic Critical Incident Interviews. Senior Spokes interview Lead-to-Cash managers using a pre-registered catalytic script that surfaces real failure signals without triggering social-desirability defences. Coded incidents are harvested into the case-vignette set.
Strand B — Reference Process Simulation Laboratory. Partner teams run identical case vignettes through two live, dual-configured software environments — a Pre-Level-2 baseline and an excellence-driven target reference — while system telemetry captures a seven-dimension performance vector.
Strand C — Vendor API Validation Layer. Tests whether the target reference is technically realisable on Odoo Community and Salesforce, and provisions the experimental environments.
Three industry archetypes are studied in parallel: Manufacturing SME, Software Project Business, and Trade. The work is grounded in the PARC+ framework — People, Architecture, Routines, Culture, plus Data as a fifth pillar — which Lab 02 empirically validates.
Who we are looking for
We are recruiting 12–15 Senior Spokes. You should bring senior, hands-on experience in at least one of two areas:
Functional depth in the Lead-to-Cash chain — Sales, Pricing, Credit, Supply, Production / Service Delivery, Logistics, Invoicing, or Collections.
Industry knowledge in one archetype: Manufacturing SME, Software Project Business, or Trade.
Together, the Spokes we are recruiting need to cover all three industry archetypes — Manufacturing SME, Software Project Business, and Trade — and every function along the Lead-to-Cash end-to-end process. The manager interviews and the case-vignette work sit entirely with the Spokes.
The commitment
This is either an expert member role, or a temporary contribution role, with a hard cap of 8 hours per week — Lab 02 is designed around the fact that Spokes have main jobs that must not be impacted. Documentation throughput is supported by AI transcription; scheduling is asynchronous wherever possible.
June–July 2026 — Setup, pre-registration, and the July Training Intensive (≈ 4 h asynchronous micro-learning plus ≈ 2 h live calibration on Critical Incident Technique and Catalytic Scripting)
August–September 2026 — Wave 0 pilot, then Wave 1 manager interviews across all three industries.
Oktober— Tech Team builds the test environment (puffer time for interviews).
November–December 2026 — Strand B half-day simulation sessions with partner teams.
January–March 2027 — Target-reference iteration, validation workshops, synthesis.
What Spokes receive
• Named credit on the OSF pre-registration and on every peer-reviewed publication where contributed.
• Methodology training in Critical Incident Technique and Catalytic Scripting.
• A speaker-slot pipeline for 2026/27 European business and IS-research conferences (optional; for expert members only)
• A membership-fee discount for active Lab contribution (for expert members only)
